Culpeper is a medium-sized town located in the state of Virginia. With a population of 21,012 people and seven associated neighborhoods, Culpeper is the 49th largest community in Virginia. Much of the housing stock in Culpeper was built relatively recently. The construction of new real estate can often be taken as an indication that the local Culpeper economy is robust, and that jobs or other amenities are attracting an influx of new residents. This seems to be the case in Culpeper, where the median household income is $91,429.00.Unlike some towns where white-collar or blue-collar occupations dominate the local economy, Culpeper is neither predominantly one nor the other. Instead, it has a mixed workforce of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Culpeper is a town of professionals, sales and office workers, and service providers. One interesting thing about the economy is that relatively large numbers of people worked from their home: 8.81% of the workforce. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes. One downside of living in Culpeper, however, is that residents on average have to contend with a long commute, spending on average 30.31 minutes every day commuting to work.
