Pocono Pines Profile

Overview

Pocono Pines is a very small town located in the state of Pennsylvania. With a population of 1,390 people and just one neighborhood, Pocono Pines is the 693rd largest community in Pennsylvania.

Pocono Pines real estate is some of the most expensive in Pennsylvania, although Pocono Pines house values don't compare to the most expensive real estate in the U.S.

Occupations and Workforce

Unlike some towns where white-collar or blue-collar occupations dominate the local economy, Pocono Pines is neither predominantly one nor the other. Instead, it has a mixed workforce of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Pocono Pines is a town of sales and office workers, construction workers and builders, and managers. There are especially a lot of people living in Pocono Pines who work in office and administrative support (24.38%), sales jobs (12.60%), and business and financial occupations (9.86%).

Of important note, Pocono Pines is also a town of artists. Pocono Pines has more artists, designers and people working in media than 90% of the communities in America. This concentration of artists helps shape Pocono Pines’s character.

Setting & Lifestyle

Another notable thing is that Pocono Pines is a major vacation destination. Much of the town’s population is seasonal: many people own second homes and only live there part-time, during the vacation season. The effect on the local economy is that many of the businesses are dependent on tourist dollars, and may operate only during the high season. As the vacation season ends, Pocono Pines’s population drops significantly, such that year-round residents will notice that the city is a much quieter place to live.

The town is relatively quiet, having a combination of lower population density and few of those groups of people who have a tendency to be noisy. For example, Pocono Pines has relatively fewer families with younger children, and/or college students. Combined, this makes Pocono Pines a pretty quiet place to live overall. If you like quiet, you will probably enjoy it here.

Compared to the rest of the country, citizens of Pocono Pines spend much less time in their cars: on average, their commute to work is only 16.56 minutes. This also means that noise and pollution levels in the town are less than they would otherwise be.

In Pocono Pines, a lot of people use a streetcar to get to work every day though Pocono Pines is a relatively small town. Those that ride a streetcar are primarily traveling out of town to good jobs in other cities.

Pocono Pines Demographics

The citizens of Pocono Pines are among the most well-educated in the nation: 45.55% of adults in Pocono Pines have a bachelor's degree or even advanced degree, whereas the average US city has 21.84% holding at least a bachelor's degree.

The per capita income in Pocono Pines in 2010 was $37,386, which is wealthy relative to Pennsylvania and the nation. This equates to an annual income of $149,544 for a family of four. However, Pocono Pines contains both very wealthy and poor people as well.

Pocono Pines is a somewhat ethnically-diverse town. The people who call Pocono Pines home describe themselves as belonging to a variety of racial and ethnic groups. The greatest number of Pocono Pines residents report their race to be White, followed by Black or African-American. Important ancestries of people in Pocono Pines include German, French , Polish, and English.

The most common language spoken in Pocono Pines is English. Other important languages spoken here include Spanish and Scandinavian languages.
