Pocono Lake Profile

Overview

Pocono Lake is a very small town located in the state of Pennsylvania. With a population of 2,248 people and just one neighborhood, Pocono Lake is the 559th largest community in Pennsylvania.

Occupations and Workforce

Pocono Lake is neither predominantly blue-collar nor white-collar, instead having a mixed workforce of both blue-collar and white-collar jobs. Overall, Pocono Lake is a town of service providers, transportation and shipping workers, and sales and office workers. There are especially a lot of people living in Pocono Lake who work in food service (30.60%), office and administrative support (11.52%), and maintenance occupations (6.66%).

Setting & Lifestyle

Another notable thing is that Pocono Lake is an extremely popular destination for tourists and seasonal residents. So much of the population is seasonal such that the town’s population swells significantly during the vacation season, and drops again when the season ends. Because of this, much of the local economy is centered around tourism; some businesses may be operated only during the high season. During the low season, year-round residents will notice that the city is a substantially quieter place to live.

It is a fairly quiet town because there are relatively few of those groups of people who have a tendency to be noisy. (Children, for example, often can't help themselves from being noisy, and being parents ourselves, we know!) Pocono Lake has relatively few families with children living at home, and is quieter because of it. Renters and college students, for their own reasons, can also be noisy. Pocono Lake has few renters and college students. But the biggest reason it is quieter in Pocono Lake than in most places in America, is that there are just simply fewer people living here. If you think trees make good neighbors, Pocono Lake may be for you.

In Pocono Lake, however, the average commute to work is quite long. On average, people spend 34.09 minutes each day getting to work, which is significantly higher than the national average.

Pocono Lake is a small town, and as such doesn't have a public transit system that people use to get to and from their jobs every day.

Pocono Lake Demographics

The overall education level of Pocono Lake citizens is substantially higher than the typical US community, as 32.36% of adults in Pocono Lake have at least a bachelor's degree, and the average American community has 21.84%.

The per capita income in Pocono Lake in 2010 was $30,558, which is wealthy relative to Pennsylvania, and upper middle income relative to the rest of the US. This equates to an annual income of $122,232 for a family of four. However, Pocono Lake contains both very wealthy and poor people as well.

Pocono Lake is a somewhat ethnically-diverse town. The people who call Pocono Lake home describe themselves as belonging to a variety of racial and ethnic groups.
