Cambridge Profile

Overview

Cambridge is a very small village located in the state of Wisconsin. With a population of 1,494 people and just one neighborhood, Cambridge is the 295th largest community in Wisconsin.

Cambridge real estate is some of the most expensive in Wisconsin, although Cambridge house values don't compare to the most expensive real estate in the U.S.

Occupations and Workforce

Cambridge is neither predominantly blue-collar nor white-collar, instead having a mixed workforce of both blue-collar and white-collar jobs. Overall, Cambridge is a village of professionals, sales and office workers, and managers. There are especially a lot of people living in Cambridge who work in office and administrative support (14.47%), sales jobs (12.48%), and management occupations (9.36%).

Of important note, Cambridge is also a village of artists. Cambridge has more artists, designers and people working in media than 90% of the communities in America. This concentration of artists helps shape Cambridge’s character.

Also of interest is that Cambridge has more people living here who work in computers and math than 95% of the places in the US.

Setting & Lifestyle

Cambridge is a good choice for families with children because of several factors. Many other families with children live here, making it a place where both parents and children are more likely to develop social ties with other families. The village’s good public school district and large population of college-educated adults provide an environment conducive to academic success. Many people own their own single-family homes, providing areas for children to play and stability in the community. Finally, Cambridge’s overall crime rate is lower than average for the country.

As is often the case in a small village, Cambridge doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.

Cambridge Demographics

The population of Cambridge is very well educated relative to most cities and towns in the nation, where the average community has 21.84% of its adult population holding a 4-year degree or higher: 38.60% of adults in Cambridge have a bachelor's degree or even advanced degree.

The per capita income in Cambridge in 2010 was $30,500, which is wealthy relative to Wisconsin, and upper middle income relative to the rest of the US. This equates to an annual income of $122,000 for a family of four. However, Cambridge contains both very wealthy and poor people as well.

The people who call Cambridge home describe themselves as belonging to a variety of racial and ethnic groups. The greatest number of Cambridge residents report their race to be White, followed by Black or African-American. Important ancestries of people in Cambridge include Norwegian, Irish, English, and Polish.

The most common language spoken in Cambridge is English. Other important languages spoken here include Spanish and German.
