Argonne Profile

Overview

Argonne is a tiny town located in the state of Wisconsin. With a population of 158 people and just one neighborhood, Argonne is the 483rd largest community in Wisconsin. Much of the housing stock in Argonne was built prior to World War II, making it one of the older and more historic towns in the country.

Occupations and Workforce

Unlike some towns, Argonne isn’t mainly white- or blue-collar. Instead, the most prevalent occupations for people in Argonne are a mix of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Argonne is a town of professionals, service providers, and sales and office workers. There are especially a lot of people living in Argonne who work in food service (16.88%), healthcare (10.39%), and teaching (10.39%).

Of important note, Argonne is also a town of artists. Argonne has more artists, designers and people working in media than 90% of the communities in America. This concentration of artists helps shape Argonne’s character.

Setting & Lifestyle

Argonne is also a college town, where lots of students live while attending area colleges. Because of the high percentage of people living in Argonne enrolled in college, Argonne has a number of services, amenities and opportunities geared towards the needs and activities of students.

Overall, Argonne’s crime rate is one of the lowest in the nation, which makes a great place to live if safety is an important concern.

The town is relatively quiet, having a combination of lower population density and few of those groups of people who have a tendency to be noisy. For example, Argonne has relatively fewer families with younger children, and/or college students. Combined, this makes Argonne a pretty quiet place to live overall. If you like quiet, you will probably enjoy it here.

Being a small town, Argonne does not have a public transit system used by locals to get to and from work.

Argonne Demographics
