Boyce Profile

Overview

Boyce is a tiny town located in the state of Virginia. With a population of 615 people and just one neighborhood, Boyce is the 297th largest community in Virginia. There's nothing like the smell of a brand new house, and in Boyce, you'll find that a large proportion of houses were recently built. New growth in residential real estate is an indication that people are choosing to move to Boyce, and putting down their money on brand new construction. Boyce’s real estate is, on average, some of the newest in the nation. Boyce does seem to be experiencing an influx of affluent people, because the median household income is $73,500.00.

Boyce home prices are not only among the most expensive in Virginia, but Boyce real estate also consistently ranks among the most expensive in America.

Occupations and Workforce

Boyce is neither predominantly blue-collar nor white-collar, instead having a mixed workforce of both blue-collar and white-collar jobs. Overall, Boyce is a town of professionals, sales and office workers, and service providers. There are especially a lot of people living in Boyce who work in teaching (18.93%), sales jobs (10.41%), and law enforcement and fire fighting (9.78%).

Of important note, Boyce is also a town of artists. Boyce has more artists, designers and people working in media than 90% of the communities in America. This concentration of artists helps shape Boyce’s character.

A relatively large number of people in Boyce telecommute to their jobs. Overall, about 11.94% of the workforce works from home. While this may seem like a small number, as a fraction of the total workforce it ranks among the highest in the country. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes.

Setting & Lifestyle

Boyce is a good choice for families with children because of several factors. Many other families with children live here, making it a place where both parents and children are more likely to develop social ties with other families. The town’s good public school district and large population of college-educated adults provide an environment conducive to academic success. Many people own their own single-family homes, providing areas for children to play and stability in the community. Finally, Boyce’s overall crime rate is lower than average for the country.

One downside of living in Boyce is that it can take a long time to commute to work. In Boyce, the average commute to work is 33.52 minutes, which is quite a bit higher than the national average.

As is often the case in a small town, Boyce doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.

Boyce Demographics

The education level of Boyce citizens is very high relative to the national average among all cities (21.84%): 36.74% of adults in Boyce have a bachelor's degree or even advanced degree.

The per capita income in Boyce in 2010 was $26,958, which is upper middle income relative to Virginia and the nation. This equates to an annual income of $107,832 for a family of four.
