Waelder Profile

Overview

Waelder is a very small city located in the state of Texas. With a population of 1,106 people and just one neighborhood, Waelder is the 799th largest community in Texas.

Occupations and Workforce

Waelder is a blue-collar town, with 52.13% of people working in blue-collar occupations, while the average in America is just 27.7%. Overall, Waelder is a city of production and manufacturing workers, service providers, and sales and office workers. There are especially a lot of people living in Waelder who work in farm management occupations (17.01%), maintenance occupations (16.22%), and sales jobs (14.65%).

You will also find that a lot of people in Waelder work in agricultural jobs - much more than in the average community in America. This will be quite apparent if you drive around town, as much of the landscape is dedicated to farms.

Setting & Lifestyle

Waelder’s overall crime rate ranks among the lowest in the nation, making it a very safe place to live.

It is a fairly quiet city because there are relatively few of those groups of people who have a tendency to be noisy. (Children, for example, often can't help themselves from being noisy, and being parents ourselves, we know!) Waelder has relatively few families with children living at home, and is quieter because of it. Renters and college students, for their own reasons, can also be noisy. Waelder has few renters and college students. But the biggest reason it is quieter in Waelder than in most places in America, is that there are just simply fewer people living here. If you think trees make good neighbors, Waelder may be for you.

Despite the fact that it is a small city, Waelder has quite a few people who take public transportation – mostly the bus - for their daily commute to work. This helps to fill a real need in the city for affordable transportation.

Waelder Demographics

The population of Waelder has one of the lowest overall levels of education in the country: only 4.69% of people over 25 hold a college degree. The national average for all municipalities is 21.84%.

The per capita income in Waelder in 2010 was $13,757, which is low income relative to Texas and the nation. This equates to an annual income of $55,028 for a family of four.
