Rhome Profile

Overview

Rhome is a very small city located in the state of Texas. With a population of 1,630 people and just one neighborhood, Rhome is the 698th largest community in Texas. Much of the housing stock in Rhome was built relatively recently. The construction of new real estate can often be taken as an indication that the local Rhome economy is robust, and that jobs or other amenities are attracting an influx of new residents. This seems to be the case in Rhome, where the median household income is $65,000.00.

Occupations and Workforce

Rhome is neither predominantly blue-collar nor white-collar, instead having a mixed workforce of both blue-collar and white-collar jobs. Overall, Rhome is a city of sales and office workers, service providers, and construction workers and builders. There are especially a lot of people living in Rhome who work in office and administrative support (14.10%), sales jobs (13.64%), and food service (10.37%).

Also of interest is that Rhome has more people living here who work in computers and math than 95% of the places in the US.

Setting & Lifestyle

Overall, Rhome’s crime rate is one of the lowest in the nation, which makes a great place to live if safety is an important concern.

It is a fairly quiet city because there are relatively few of those groups of people who have a tendency to be noisy. (Children, for example, often can't help themselves from being noisy, and being parents ourselves, we know!) Rhome has relatively few families with children living at home, and is quieter because of it. Renters and college students, for their own reasons, can also be noisy. Rhome has few renters and college students. But the biggest reason it is quieter in Rhome than in most places in America, is that there are just simply fewer people living here. If you think trees make good neighbors, Rhome may be for you.

One downside of living in Rhome is that it can take a long time to commute to work. In Rhome, the average commute to work is 32.33 minutes, which is quite a bit higher than the national average.

Being a small city, Rhome does not have a public transit system used by locals to get to and from work.

Rhome Demographics

The citizens of Rhome are slightly less educated than the national average of 21.84% for the average city or town: 14.27% of adults in Rhome have a bachelor's degree or advanced degree

The per capita income in Rhome in 2010 was $25,549, which is upper middle income relative to Texas and the nation. This equates to an annual income of $102,196 for a family of four. However, Rhome contains both very wealthy and poor people as well.

The people who call Rhome home describe themselves as belonging to a variety of racial and ethnic groups. The greatest number of Rhome residents report their race to be White, followed by Black or African-American. Rhome also has a sizeable Hispanic population (people of Hispanic origin can be of any race). People of Hispanic or Latino origin account for 17.90% of the city’s residents. Important ancestries of people in Rhome include Irish, English, European, and Dutch.

The most common language spoken in Rhome is English. Other important languages spoken here include Spanish and German.
