Miami Profile

Overview

Miami is a tiny city located in the state of Texas. With a population of 589 people and just one neighborhood, Miami is the 921st largest community in Texas.

Occupations and Workforce

Unlike some cities, Miami isn’t mainly white- or blue-collar. Instead, the most prevalent occupations for people in Miami are a mix of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Miami is a city of professionals, sales and office workers, and service providers. There are especially a lot of people living in Miami who work in office and administrative support (19.09%), healthcare (8.30%), and teaching (7.88%).

Setting & Lifestyle

In addition, Miami is home to many people who could be described as "urban sophisticates". Urban sophisticates are people who are both educated and wealthy, and thus tend to be older, richer, and more established than young professionals. "Urban sophisticates" is not just about being educated and well-off financially: it is a point of view and state of mind, one that you might call 'urbaneness'. But such people can and do regularly live in small towns, suburbs and rural areas, as well as in big cities. They read, support the arts and high-end shops, and love travel.

Miami is a good choice for families with children because of several factors. Many other families with children live here, making it a place where both parents and children are more likely to develop social ties with other families. The city’s good public school district and large population of college-educated adults provide an environment conducive to academic success. Many people own their own single-family homes, providing areas for children to play and stability in the community. Finally, Miami’s overall crime rate is lower than average for the country.

Residents will find that the city is relatively quiet. This is because it is not over-populated, and it has fewer college students, renters, and young children - all of whom can be noisy at times. So, if you're looking for a relatively peaceful place to live, Miami is worth considering.

Compared to the rest of the country, citizens of Miami spend much less time in their cars: on average, their commute to work is only 17.27 minutes. This also means that noise and pollution levels in the city are less than they would otherwise be.

Miami is a small city, and as such doesn't have a public transit system that people use to get to and from their jobs every day.

Miami Demographics

The education level of Miami citizens is substantially higher than the typical US community, as 30.40% of adults in Miami have at least a bachelor's degree.

The per capita income in Miami in 2010 was $31,380, which is wealthy relative to Texas, and upper middle income relative to the rest of the US. This equates to an annual income of $125,520 for a family of four. However, Miami contains both very wealthy and poor people as well.

The people who call Miami home describe themselves as belonging to a variety of racial and ethnic groups. The greatest number of Miami residents report their race to be White, followed by Asian. Important ancestries of people in Miami include Irish, English, Dutch, and French .

The most common language spoken in Miami is English. Other important languages spoken here include Spanish and Chinese.
