De Leon Profile

Overview

De Leon is a very small city located in the state of Texas. With a population of 2,150 people and just one neighborhood, De Leon is the 583rd largest community in Texas.

Occupations and Workforce

Unlike some cities, De Leon isn’t mainly white- or blue-collar. Instead, the most prevalent occupations for people in De Leon are a mix of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, De Leon is a city of sales and office workers, professionals, and service providers. There are especially a lot of people living in De Leon who work in office and administrative support (16.12%), sales jobs (12.00%), and food service (8.71%).

Setting & Lifestyle

It is a fairly quiet city because there are relatively few of those groups of people who have a tendency to be noisy. (Children, for example, often can't help themselves from being noisy, and being parents ourselves, we know!) De Leon has relatively few families with children living at home, and is quieter because of it. Renters and college students, for their own reasons, can also be noisy. De Leon has few renters and college students. But the biggest reason it is quieter in De Leon than in most places in America, is that there are just simply fewer people living here. If you think trees make good neighbors, De Leon may be for you.

As is often the case in a small city, De Leon doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.

De Leon Demographics

The rate of college-level education in De Leon is quite a bit lower than the national average among all cities of 21.84%: just 10.74% of people here over 25 have a bachelor's degree or an advanced degree.

The per capita income in De Leon in 2010 was $18,581, which is lower middle income relative to Texas and the nation. This equates to an annual income of $74,324 for a family of four.

De Leon is a very ethnically-diverse city. The people who call De Leon home describe themselves as belonging to a variety of racial and ethnic groups. The greatest number of De Leon residents report their race to be White, followed by Native American. De Leon also has a sizeable Hispanic population (people of Hispanic origin can be of any race). People of Hispanic or Latino origin account for 26.47% of the city’s residents. Important ancestries of people in De Leon include Irish, German, European, and Dutch.

The most common language spoken in De Leon is English. Other important languages spoken here include Spanish and French.
