Medina Profile

Overview

Medina is a very small city located in the state of Tennessee. With a population of 4,124 people and just one neighborhood, Medina is the 164th largest community in Tennessee. There's nothing like the smell of a brand new house, and in Medina, you'll find that a large proportion of houses were recently built. New growth in residential real estate is an indication that people are choosing to move to Medina, and putting down their money on brand new construction. Medina’s real estate is, on average, some of the newest in the nation. Medina does seem to be experiencing an influx of affluent people, because the median household income is $64,818.00.

Occupations and Workforce

Medina is neither predominantly blue-collar nor white-collar, instead having a mixed workforce of both blue-collar and white-collar jobs. Overall, Medina is a city of professionals, managers, and sales and office workers. There are especially a lot of people living in Medina who work in management occupations (14.82%), office and administrative support (11.06%), and healthcare (10.95%).

Setting & Lifestyle

Because of many things, Medina is a very good place for families to consider. With an enviable combination of good schools, low crime, college-educated neighbors who tend to support education because of their own experiences, and a high rate of home ownership in predominantly single-family properties, Medina really has some of the features that families look for when choosing a good community to raise children. Is Medina perfect? Of course not, and if you like frenetic nightlife, it will be far from your cup of tea. But overall this is a solid community, with many things to recommend it as a family-friendly place to live.

Medina is a small city, and as is often the case with smaller towns, the population isn't large or dense enough to support much in the way of a public transportation system. In fact, there are many rural roads around Medina, which makes walking or biking to and from work a bit difficult. This makes for a very car-oriented town: 0.97% of residents commute to work by private automobile, and people often drive out of town for work, shopping, and other activities.

As is often the case in a small city, Medina doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.

Medina Demographics

In terms of college education, Medina is substantially better educated than the typical community in the nation, which has 21.84% of the adults holding a bachelor's degree or graduate degree: 32.91% of adults in Medina have a college degree.

The per capita income in Medina in 2010 was $24,916, which is upper middle income relative to Tennessee, and middle income relative to the rest of the US. This equates to an annual income of $99,664 for a family of four. However, Medina contains both very wealthy and poor people as well.

Medina is a somewhat ethnically-diverse city. The people who call Medina home describe themselves as belonging to a variety of racial and ethnic groups. The greatest number of Medina residents report their race to be White, followed by Black or African-American. Important ancestries of people in Medina include German, Italian, English, and Scots-Irish.

The most common language spoken in Medina is English. Other important languages spoken here include Spanish and Serbo-Croatian.
