Medina Profile

Overview

Medina is a very small city located in the state of Tennessee. With a population of 4,124 people and just one neighborhood, Medina is the 164th largest community in Tennessee. There's nothing like the smell of a brand new house, and in Medina, you'll find that a large proportion of houses were recently built. New growth in residential real estate is an indication that people are choosing to move to Medina, and putting down their money on brand new construction. Medina’s real estate is, on average, some of the newest in the nation. Medina does seem to be experiencing an influx of affluent people, because the median household income is $62,091.00.

Medina real estate is some of the most expensive in Tennessee, although Medina house values don't compare to the most expensive real estate in the U.S.

Occupations and Workforce

Unlike some cities, Medina isn’t mainly white- or blue-collar. Instead, the most prevalent occupations for people in Medina are a mix of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Medina is a city of professionals, sales and office workers, and managers. There are especially a lot of people living in Medina who work in healthcare (15.50%), office and administrative support (13.35%), and management occupations (9.34%).

Setting & Lifestyle

Medina is a good choice for families with children because of several factors. Many other families with children live here, making it a place where both parents and children are more likely to develop social ties with other families. The city’s good public school district and large population of college-educated adults provide an environment conducive to academic success. Many people own their own single-family homes, providing areas for children to play and stability in the community. Finally, Medina’s overall crime rate is lower than average for the country.

Medina is a very car-oriented city. 0.97% of residents commute to work in a private automobile rather than by other means, such as public transit, bicycling, or walking. This is because Medina is a small city , and most people who live here have to drive out of town for work, and the town population is not large nor dense enough to support an extensive public transportation system. Medina has a lot of rural roads, and houses can be far apart. Many residents drive out of town for regular shopping trips as well.

As is often the case in a small city, Medina doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.

Medina Demographics

The overall education level of Medina citizens is substantially higher than the typical US community, as 32.33% of adults in Medina have at least a bachelor's degree, and the average American community has 21.84%.

The per capita income in Medina in 2010 was $23,484, which is upper middle income relative to Tennessee, and middle income relative to the rest of the US. This equates to an annual income of $93,936 for a family of four. However, Medina contains both very wealthy and poor people as well.

The people who call Medina home describe themselves as belonging to a variety of racial and ethnic groups. The greatest number of Medina residents report their race to be White, followed by Black or African-American. Important ancestries of people in Medina include German, English, Italian, and European.

The most common language spoken in Medina is English. Other important languages spoken here include Spanish and Serbo-Croatian.
