Overview

Loretto is a very small borough located in the state of Pennsylvania. With a population of 1,376 people and just one neighborhood, Loretto is the 720th largest community in Pennsylvania. Loretto has a large stock of pre-World War II architecture, making it one of the older and more historic boroughs in the country.

Occupations and Workforce

Loretto is a decidedly white-collar borough, with fully 87.71% of the workforce employed in white-collar jobs, well above the national average. Overall, Loretto is a borough of service providers, sales and office workers, and professionals. There are especially a lot of people living in Loretto who work in sales jobs (16.28%), personal care services (14.95%), and food service (14.29%).

Loretto is a place where college students are a big part of the character and culture of the town. Small towns have often struggled with declining populations over the past few decades, but the presence of such a large college student population has helped Loretto to fight this trend. Not only does the college population add spending and jobs to local economy, but it also contributes a very tangible, youthful energy to the town.

Overall, Loretto’s crime rate is one of the lowest in the nation, which makes a great place to live if safety is an important concern.

Being a small borough, Loretto does not have a public transit system used by locals to get to and from work.
