Loganton Profile

Overview

Loganton is a tiny borough located in the state of Pennsylvania. With a population of 470 people and just one neighborhood, Loganton is the 946th largest community in Pennsylvania. Much of the housing stock in Loganton was built prior to World War II, making it one of the older and more historic boroughs in the country.

Occupations and Workforce

Because occupations involving physical labor dominate the local economy, Loganton is generally considered to be a blue-collar town. 43.53% of the Loganton workforce is employed in blue-collar occupations, compared to the national average of 27.7%. Overall, Loganton is a borough of construction workers and builders, sales and office workers, and service providers. There are especially a lot of people living in Loganton who work in office and administrative support (13.36%), sales jobs (9.48%), and maintenance occupations (7.76%).

A relatively large number of people in Loganton telecommute to their jobs. Overall, about 7.42% of the workforce works from home. While this may seem like a small number, as a fraction of the total workforce it ranks among the highest in the country. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes.

Setting & Lifestyle

Loganton’s overall crime rate ranks among the lowest in the nation, making it a very safe place to live.

Residents will find that the borough is relatively quiet. This is because it is not over-populated, and it has fewer college students, renters, and young children - all of whom can be noisy at times. So, if you're looking for a relatively peaceful place to live, Loganton is worth considering.

As is often the case in a small borough, Loganton doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.

Loganton Demographics

The citizens of Loganton have a very low rate of college education: just 8.01% of people over 25 have a bachelor's degree or advanced degree, compared to a national average of 21.84% for all cities.

The per capita income in Loganton in 2010 was $21,295, which is lower middle income relative to Pennsylvania and the nation. This equates to an annual income of $85,180 for a family of four. However, Loganton contains both very wealthy and poor people as well.

The people who call Loganton home describe themselves as belonging to a variety of racial and ethnic groups. The greatest number of Loganton residents report their race to be White. Important ancestries of people in Loganton include Irish, Pennsylvania German, Dutch, and English.

The most common language spoken in Loganton is English. Other important languages spoken here include West Germanic languages and Spanish.
