With a population of 5,673, 2,293 total housing units (homes and apartments), and a median house value of $249,290, Winston real estate values are some of the lowest in Oregon, although compared to real estate around the nation, Winston homes are still considered rather expensive.

Single-family detached homes are the single most common housing type in Winston, accounting for 68.06% of the city's housing units. Other types of housing that are prevalent in Winston include mobile homes or trailers ( 15.89%), duplexes, homes converted to apartments or other small apartment buildings ( 8.13%), and a few row houses and other attached homes ( 4.11%).
