Davenport Profile

Overview

Davenport is a tiny town located in the state of Oklahoma. With a population of 821 people and just one neighborhood, Davenport is the 240th largest community in Oklahoma.

Occupations and Workforce

When you are in Davenport, you'll notice that it is more blue-collar than most other communities in America. 35.68% of Davenport’s employed work in blue-collar jobs, while America averages only 27.7% that do. Overall, Davenport is a town of sales and office workers, service providers, and transportation and shipping workers. There are especially a lot of people living in Davenport who work in office and administrative support (17.84%), sales jobs (16.22%), and food service (10.54%).

Setting & Lifestyle

It is a fairly quiet town because there are relatively few of those groups of people who have a tendency to be noisy. (Children, for example, often can't help themselves from being noisy, and being parents ourselves, we know!) Davenport has relatively few families with children living at home, and is quieter because of it. Renters and college students, for their own reasons, can also be noisy. Davenport has few renters and college students. But the biggest reason it is quieter in Davenport than in most places in America, is that there are just simply fewer people living here. If you think trees make good neighbors, Davenport may be for you.

Davenport is a small town, and as such doesn't have a public transit system that people use to get to and from their jobs every day.

Davenport Demographics

Davenport ranks among the bottom of the nation in terms of college education compared to other cities and towns: only 4.37% of people over 25 have a college degree.

The per capita income in Davenport in 2010 was $18,554, which is middle income relative to Oklahoma, and lower middle income relative to the rest of the US. This equates to an annual income of $74,216 for a family of four. However, Davenport contains both very wealthy and poor people as well.

Davenport is a somewhat ethnically-diverse town. The people who call Davenport home describe themselves as belonging to a variety of racial and ethnic groups. The greatest number of Davenport residents report their race to be White, followed by Native American. Important ancestries of people in Davenport include German, English, Scots-Irish, and Dutch.

The most common language spoken in Davenport is English. Other important languages spoken here include Spanish and French.
