Dundee Profile

Overview

Dundee is a tiny town located in the state of Ohio. With a population of 296 people and just one neighborhood, Dundee is the 725th largest community in Ohio.

Occupations and Workforce

Unlike some towns, Dundee isn’t mainly white- or blue-collar. Instead, the most prevalent occupations for people in Dundee are a mix of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Dundee is a town of sales and office workers, service providers, and production and manufacturing workers. There are especially a lot of people living in Dundee who work in office and administrative support (23.50%), personal care services (12.27%), and law enforcement and fire fighting (7.05%).

A relatively large number of people in Dundee telecommute to their jobs. Overall, about 8.09% of the workforce works from home. While this may seem like a small number, as a fraction of the total workforce it ranks among the highest in the country. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes.

Setting & Lifestyle

Dundee’s overall crime rate ranks among the lowest in the nation, making it a very safe place to live.

It is a fairly quiet town because there are relatively few of those groups of people who have a tendency to be noisy. (Children, for example, often can't help themselves from being noisy, and being parents ourselves, we know!) Dundee has relatively few families with children living at home, and is quieter because of it. Renters and college students, for their own reasons, can also be noisy. Dundee has few renters and college students. But the biggest reason it is quieter in Dundee than in most places in America, is that there are just simply fewer people living here. If you think trees make good neighbors, Dundee may be for you.

Dundee Demographics

The population of Dundee has a very low overall level of education: only 6.49% of people over 25 hold a 4-year college degree or higher.

The per capita income in Dundee in 2010 was $24,002, which is upper middle income relative to Ohio, and middle income relative to the rest of the US. This equates to an annual income of $96,008 for a family of four.

The people who call Dundee home describe themselves as belonging to a variety of racial and ethnic groups. The greatest number of Dundee residents report their race to be White. Important ancestries of people in Dundee include English, Irish, Swiss, and Scottish.

The most common language spoken in Dundee is English. Other important languages spoken here include West Germanic languages and African languages.
