Rush Profile

Overview

Rush is a very small town located in the state of New York. With a population of 3,521 people and just one neighborhood, Rush is the 415th largest community in New York.

Occupations and Workforce

Rush is a decidedly white-collar town, with fully 87.43% of the workforce employed in white-collar jobs, well above the national average. Overall, Rush is a town of professionals, sales and office workers, and managers. There are especially a lot of people living in Rush who work in management occupations (19.35%), office and administrative support (13.57%), and sales jobs (11.01%).

Also of interest is that Rush has more people living here who work in computers and math than 95% of the places in the US.

Setting & Lifestyle

It is a fairly quiet town because there are relatively few of those groups of people who have a tendency to be noisy. (Children, for example, often can't help themselves from being noisy, and being parents ourselves, we know!) Rush has relatively few families with children living at home, and is quieter because of it. Renters and college students, for their own reasons, can also be noisy. Rush has few renters and college students. But the biggest reason it is quieter in Rush than in most places in America, is that there are just simply fewer people living here. If you think trees make good neighbors, Rush may be for you.

As is often the case in a small town, Rush doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.

Rush Demographics

Rush is one of the most well-educated cities in the nation. 44.56% of adults in Rush have at least a bachelor's degree. Compare that to the average community in America, which has just 21.84% with a bachelor's degree or higher.

The per capita income in Rush in 2010 was $42,092, which is wealthy relative to New York and the nation. This equates to an annual income of $168,368 for a family of four.

The people who call Rush home describe themselves as belonging to a variety of racial and ethnic groups. The greatest number of Rush residents report their race to be White, followed by Black or African-American. Important ancestries of people in Rush include Irish, Italian, English, and Polish.

The most common language spoken in Rush is English. Other important languages spoken here include Spanish and Slavic languages.
