Santa Rosa Profile

Overview

Santa Rosa is a very small city located in the state of New Mexico. With a population of 2,675 people and just one neighborhood, Santa Rosa is the 51st largest community in New Mexico.

Occupations and Workforce

Unlike some cities, Santa Rosa isn’t mainly white- or blue-collar. Instead, the most prevalent occupations for people in Santa Rosa are a mix of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Santa Rosa is a city of sales and office workers, service providers, and professionals. There are especially a lot of people living in Santa Rosa who work in sales jobs (18.25%), office and administrative support (14.60%), and management occupations (9.07%).

Also of interest is that Santa Rosa has more people living here who work in computers and math than 95% of the places in the US.

Setting & Lifestyle

It is a fairly quiet city because there are relatively few of those groups of people who have a tendency to be noisy. (Children, for example, often can't help themselves from being noisy, and being parents ourselves, we know!) Santa Rosa has relatively few families with children living at home, and is quieter because of it. Renters and college students, for their own reasons, can also be noisy. Santa Rosa has few renters and college students. But the biggest reason it is quieter in Santa Rosa than in most places in America, is that there are just simply fewer people living here. If you think trees make good neighbors, Santa Rosa may be for you.

Residents of the city have the good fortune of having one of the shortest daily commutes compared to the rest of the country. On average, they spend only 13.80 minutes getting to work every day.

As is often the case in a small city, Santa Rosa doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.

Santa Rosa Demographics

The rate of college-level education in Santa Rosa is quite a bit lower than the national average among all cities of 21.84%: just 10.19% of people here over 25 have a bachelor's degree or an advanced degree.

The per capita income in Santa Rosa in 2010 was $14,932, which is lower middle income relative to New Mexico, and low income relative to the rest of the US. This equates to an annual income of $59,728 for a family of four.

Santa Rosa is a very ethnically-diverse city. The people who call Santa Rosa home describe themselves as belonging to a variety of racial and ethnic groups. The greatest number of Santa Rosa residents report their race to be White, followed by Black or African-American. Santa Rosa also has a sizeable Hispanic population (people of Hispanic origin can be of any race). People of Hispanic or Latino origin account for 72.85% of the city’s residents. Important ancestries of people in Santa Rosa include German, English, Italian, and Scottish.

The most common language spoken in Santa Rosa is Spanish. Other important languages spoken here include English and Navajo.
