Dulce Profile

Overview

Dulce is a very small town located in the state of New Mexico. With a population of 2,714 people and just one neighborhood, Dulce is the 55th largest community in New Mexico.

Occupations and Workforce

Unlike some towns, Dulce isn’t mainly white- or blue-collar. Instead, the most prevalent occupations for people in Dulce are a mix of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Dulce is a town of service providers, managers, and sales and office workers. There are especially a lot of people living in Dulce who work in management occupations (15.65%), office and administrative support (15.45%), and law enforcement and fire fighting (9.45%).

Setting & Lifestyle

Overall, Dulce’s crime rate is one of the lowest in the nation, which makes a great place to live if safety is an important concern.

Residents will find that the town is relatively quiet. This is because it is not over-populated, and it has fewer college students, renters, and young children - all of whom can be noisy at times. So, if you're looking for a relatively peaceful place to live, Dulce is worth considering.

Residents of the town have the good fortune of having one of the shortest daily commutes compared to the rest of the country. On average, they spend only 10.39 minutes getting to work every day.

As is often the case in a small town, Dulce doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.

Dulce Demographics

The population of Dulce has a very low overall level of education: only 8.39% of people over 25 hold a 4-year college degree or higher.

The per capita income in Dulce in 2010 was $15,422, which is lower middle income relative to New Mexico, and low income relative to the rest of the US. This equates to an annual income of $61,688 for a family of four. However, Dulce contains both very wealthy and poor people as well.

Dulce is a somewhat ethnically-diverse town. The people who call Dulce home describe themselves as belonging to a variety of racial and ethnic groups. The greatest number of Dulce residents report their race to be Native American, followed by White. Important ancestries of people in Dulce include Irish, Scottish, English, and Scots-Irish.

The most common language spoken in Dulce is English. Other important languages spoken here include Native American languages and Navajo.
