Capitan Profile


Overview

Capitan is a very small village located in the state of New Mexico. With a population of 1,392 people and just one neighborhood, Capitan is the 73rd largest community in New Mexico.

Capitan real estate is some of the most expensive in New Mexico, although Capitan house values don't compare to the most expensive real estate in the U.S.

Occupations and Workforce

Unlike some villages, Capitan isn’t mainly white- or blue-collar. Instead, the most prevalent occupations for people in Capitan are a mix of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Capitan is a village of service providers, sales and office workers, and construction workers and builders. There are especially a lot of people living in Capitan who work in sales jobs (19.40%), maintenance occupations (13.58%), and food service (9.91%).


Setting & Lifestyle

The village is relatively quiet, having a combination of lower population density and few of those groups of people who have a tendency to be noisy. For example, Capitan has relatively fewer families with younger children, and/or college students. Combined, this makes Capitan a pretty quiet place to live overall. If you like quiet, you will probably enjoy it here.

As is often the case in a small village, Capitan doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.
