Kingston Profile

Overview

Kingston is a somewhat small town located in the state of New Hampshire. With a population of 6,119 people and just one neighborhood, Kingston is the 54th largest community in New Hampshire.

Occupations and Workforce

Kingston is neither predominantly blue-collar nor white-collar, instead having a mixed workforce of both blue-collar and white-collar jobs. Overall, Kingston is a town of sales and office workers, professionals, and service providers. There are especially a lot of people living in Kingston who work in sales jobs (11.53%), office and administrative support (9.68%), and management occupations (9.43%).

Setting & Lifestyle

Because of many things, Kingston is a great place for families with children to consider. First of all, many other families with children live here, making Kingston a place where both parents and children are more likely to develop social ties with other families, as well as find family-oriented services and community. The town’s good public school district and large population of college-educated adults provide an environment conducive to academic values. With regard to real estate, Kingston has a high rate of owner-occupied single family homes, which tends to reflect stability in the local community. Finally, Kingston’s overall crime rate is lower than average for the country.

It is a fairly quiet town because there are relatively few of those groups of people who have a tendency to be noisy. (Children, for example, often can't help themselves from being noisy, and being parents ourselves, we know!) Kingston has relatively few families with children living at home, and is quieter because of it. Renters and college students, for their own reasons, can also be noisy. Kingston has few renters and college students. But the biggest reason it is quieter in Kingston than in most places in America, is that there are just simply fewer people living here. If you think trees make good neighbors, Kingston may be for you.

One downside of living in Kingston, however, is that residents on average have to contend with a long commute, spending on average 32.86 minutes every day commuting to work.

Kingston Demographics

The percentage of people in Kingston who are college-educated is somewhat higher than the average US community of 21.84%: 28.56% of adults in Kingston have at least a bachelor's degree.

The per capita income in Kingston in 2010 was $43,586, which is wealthy relative to New Hampshire and the nation. This equates to an annual income of $174,344 for a family of four. However, Kingston contains both very wealthy and poor people as well.

The people who call Kingston home describe themselves as belonging to a variety of racial and ethnic groups. The greatest number of Kingston residents report their race to be White, followed by Native American. Important ancestries of people in Kingston include English, French , Italian, and German.

The most common language spoken in Kingston is English. Other important languages spoken here include French and Spanish.
