Kennard Profile

Overview

Kennard is a tiny village located in the state of Nebraska. With a population of 359 people and just one neighborhood, Kennard is the 172nd largest community in Nebraska. Much of the housing stock in Kennard was built prior to World War II, making it one of the older and more historic villages in the country.

Kennard real estate is some of the most expensive in Nebraska, although Kennard house values don't compare to the most expensive real estate in the U.S.

Occupations and Workforce

When you are in Kennard, you'll notice that it is more blue-collar than most other communities in America. 36.63% of Kennard’s employed work in blue-collar jobs, while America averages only 27.7% that do. Overall, Kennard is a village of sales and office workers, construction workers and builders, and professionals. There are especially a lot of people living in Kennard who work in office and administrative support (20.93%), sales jobs (10.47%), and computer science and math (5.81%).

Also of interest is that Kennard has more people living here who work in computers and math than 95% of the places in the US.

Setting & Lifestyle

In addition, Kennard is home to many people who could be described as "urban sophisticates". Urban sophisticates are educated, wealthy, executives and professionals, who have urbane tastes in books, food, and travel, whether they actually live in a big city, or choose to reside in a small town. In big or medium-sized cities, urban sophisticates tend to frequent art institutions such as opera, symphonies, ballet, live theatre, and museums.

Because of many things, Kennard is a great place for families with children to consider. First of all, many other families with children live here, making Kennard a place where both parents and children are more likely to develop social ties with other families, as well as find family-oriented services and community. The village’s good public school district and large population of college-educated adults provide an environment conducive to academic values. With regard to real estate, Kennard has a high rate of owner-occupied single family homes, which tends to reflect stability in the local community. Finally, Kennard’s overall crime rate is lower than average for the country.

As is often the case in a small village, Kennard doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.

Kennard Demographics

The percentage of adults in Kennard with college degrees is slightly lower than the national average of 21.84% for all communities. 16.67% of adults in Kennard have a bachelor's degree or advanced degree.

The per capita income in Kennard in 2010 was $26,740, which is wealthy relative to Nebraska, and upper middle income relative to the rest of the US. This equates to an annual income of $106,960 for a family of four. However, Kennard contains both very wealthy and poor people as well.

The people who call Kennard home describe themselves as belonging to a variety of racial and ethnic groups. The greatest number of Kennard residents report their race to be White, followed by Native American. Important ancestries of people in Kennard include Italian, English, Irish, and Danish.

The most common language spoken in Kennard is English. Other important languages spoken here include African languages and Hebrew.
