Paris Profile

Overview

Paris is a very small city located in the state of Missouri. With a population of 1,176 people and just one neighborhood, Paris is the 319th largest community in Missouri.

Occupations and Workforce

Unlike some cities, Paris isn’t mainly white- or blue-collar. Instead, the most prevalent occupations for people in Paris are a mix of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Paris is a city of service providers, sales and office workers, and professionals. There are especially a lot of people living in Paris who work in office and administrative support (13.09%), sales jobs (9.44%), and healthcare suport services (8.80%).

Setting & Lifestyle

It is a fairly quiet city because there are relatively few of those groups of people who have a tendency to be noisy. (Children, for example, often can't help themselves from being noisy, and being parents ourselves, we know!) Paris has relatively few families with children living at home, and is quieter because of it. Renters and college students, for their own reasons, can also be noisy. Paris has few renters and college students. But the biggest reason it is quieter in Paris than in most places in America, is that there are just simply fewer people living here. If you think trees make good neighbors, Paris may be for you.

As is often the case in a small city, Paris doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.

Paris Demographics

The citizens of Paris are slightly better educated than the national average of 21.84% for all cities and towns, with 22.04% of adults in Paris having a bachelor's degree or advanced degree.

The per capita income in Paris in 2010 was $18,409, which is middle income relative to Missouri, and lower middle income relative to the rest of the US. This equates to an annual income of $73,636 for a family of four. However, Paris contains both very wealthy and poor people as well.

The people who call Paris home describe themselves as belonging to a variety of racial and ethnic groups. The greatest number of Paris residents report their race to be White, followed by Black or African-American. Important ancestries of people in Paris include English, Irish, Swedish, and Scots-Irish.

The most common language spoken in Paris is English. Other important languages spoken here include Arabic and West Germanic languages.
