Twin Lake Profile

Overview

Twin Lake is a very small town located in the state of Michigan. With a population of 1,720 people and just one neighborhood, Twin Lake is the 389th largest community in Michigan.

Occupations and Workforce

Unlike some towns where white-collar or blue-collar occupations dominate the local economy, Twin Lake is neither predominantly one nor the other. Instead, it has a mixed workforce of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Twin Lake is a town of professionals, service providers, and sales and office workers. There are especially a lot of people living in Twin Lake who work in sales jobs (11.49%), office and administrative support (10.58%), and teaching (10.01%).

Setting & Lifestyle

The town is relatively quiet, having a combination of lower population density and few of those groups of people who have a tendency to be noisy. For example, Twin Lake has relatively fewer families with younger children, and/or college students. Combined, this makes Twin Lake a pretty quiet place to live overall. If you like quiet, you will probably enjoy it here.

Twin Lake is very much a car-oriented town. This is because the population of Twin Lake isn't large enough or dense enough to support an extensive public transit system. It has a lot of rural roads, and the distance between houses can be quite large, which together tends to discourage walking and bicycling to work. 0.97% of residents commute to work in their own car (and the drive is typically to a job out of town). People also tend to drive out of town for other services as well, such as shopping, doctors appointments, and more.

Twin Lake is a small town, and as such doesn't have a public transit system that people use to get to and from their jobs every day.

Twin Lake Demographics

In terms of college education, Twin Lake is nearly on par with the US average for all cities of 21.84%: 17.54% of adults 25 and older in Twin Lake have a bachelor's degree or advanced degree.

The per capita income in Twin Lake in 2010 was $23,906, which is upper middle income relative to Michigan, and middle income relative to the rest of the US. This equates to an annual income of $95,624 for a family of four. However, Twin Lake contains both very wealthy and poor people as well.

The people who call Twin Lake home describe themselves as belonging to a variety of racial and ethnic groups. The greatest number of Twin Lake residents report their race to be White, followed by Native American. Important ancestries of people in Twin Lake include Dutch, Irish, English, and Finnish.

The most common language spoken in Twin Lake is English. Other important languages spoken here include African languages and Hebrew.
