Howe Profile

Overview

Howe is a tiny town located in the state of Indiana. With a population of 835 people and just one neighborhood, Howe is the 341st largest community in Indiana.

Occupations and Workforce

Howe is neither predominantly blue-collar nor white-collar, instead having a mixed workforce of both blue-collar and white-collar jobs. Overall, Howe is a town of sales and office workers, service providers, and farmers, fishers, or foresters. There are especially a lot of people living in Howe who work in sales jobs (24.58%), farm management occupations (17.08%), and office and administrative support (9.58%).

Another important characteristic of Howe is that a lot of people work in agricultural jobs, especially compared to most other communities in America, and there are quite a number of farms in town.

Of important note, Howe is also a town of artists. Howe has more artists, designers and people working in media than 90% of the communities in America. This concentration of artists helps shape Howe’s character.

Setting & Lifestyle

In addition, Howe is a college town. There are a lot of students in Howe attending college, and as a result Howe provides a number of services, amenities and opportunities geared to the needs and activities of students.

Overall, Howe’s crime rate is one of the lowest in the nation, which makes a great place to live if safety is an important concern.

The town is relatively quiet, having a combination of lower population density and few of those groups of people who have a tendency to be noisy. For example, Howe has relatively fewer families with younger children, and/or college students. Combined, this makes Howe a pretty quiet place to live overall. If you like quiet, you will probably enjoy it here.

Compared to the rest of the country, citizens of Howe spend much less time in their cars: on average, their commute to work is only 15.94 minutes. This also means that noise and pollution levels in the town are less than they would otherwise be.

As is often the case in a small town, Howe doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.
