Bargersville Profile

Overview

Bargersville is a very small town located in the state of Indiana. With a population of 7,722 people and just one neighborhood, Bargersville is the 142nd largest community in Indiana. Bargersville has seen a significant amount of newer housing growth in recent years. Quite often, new home construction is the result of new residents moving in who are middle class or wealthier, attracted by jobs, a healthy local economy, or other amenities as they leave nearby or far away areas for greener pastures. This seems to be the case in Bargersville, where the median household income is $82,036.00.

Bargersville real estate is some of the most expensive in Indiana, although Bargersville house values don't compare to the most expensive real estate in the U.S.

Occupations and Workforce

Unlike some towns, Bargersville isn’t mainly white- or blue-collar. Instead, the most prevalent occupations for people in Bargersville are a mix of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Bargersville is a town of professionals, managers, and sales and office workers. There are especially a lot of people living in Bargersville who work in management occupations (15.26%), office and administrative support (9.58%), and sales jobs (8.68%).

Also of interest is that Bargersville has more people living here who work in computers and math than 95% of the places in the US.

One interesting thing about the economy is that relatively large numbers of people worked from their home: 8.70% of the workforce. While this number may seem small overall, as a fraction of the total workforce this is high compared to the rest of the county. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes.

Setting & Lifestyle

Because of many things, Bargersville is a great place for families with children to consider. First of all, many other families with children live here, making Bargersville a place where both parents and children are more likely to develop social ties with other families, as well as find family-oriented services and community. The town’s good public school district and large population of college-educated adults provide an environment conducive to academic values. With regard to real estate, Bargersville has a high rate of owner-occupied single family homes, which tends to reflect stability in the local community. Finally, Bargersville’s overall crime rate is lower than average for the country.

Bargersville Demographics

The education level of Bargersville citizens is very high relative to the national average among all cities (21.84%): 34.60% of adults in Bargersville have a bachelor's degree or even advanced degree.

The per capita income in Bargersville in 2018 was $40,316, which is wealthy relative to Indiana and the nation. This equates to an annual income of $161,264 for a family of four. However, Bargersville contains both very wealthy and poor people as well.

The people who call Bargersville home describe themselves as belonging to a variety of racial and ethnic groups. The greatest number of Bargersville residents report their race to be White, followed by Black or African-American. Important ancestries of people in Bargersville include German, English, Irish, Polish, and French.
