Pacific Junction Profile

Overview

Pacific Junction is a tiny city located in the state of Iowa. With a population of 470 people and just one neighborhood, Pacific Junction is the 378th largest community in Iowa. Much of the housing stock in Pacific Junction was built prior to World War II, making it one of the older and more historic cities in the country.

Pacific Junction real estate is some of the most expensive in Iowa, although Pacific Junction house values don't compare to the most expensive real estate in the U.S.

Occupations and Workforce

Unlike some cities, Pacific Junction isn’t mainly white- or blue-collar. Instead, the most prevalent occupations for people in Pacific Junction are a mix of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Pacific Junction is a city of service providers, sales and office workers, and construction workers and builders. There are especially a lot of people living in Pacific Junction who work in office and administrative support (13.11%), sales jobs (11.48%), and personal care services (10.93%).

Setting & Lifestyle

It is a fairly quiet city because there are relatively few of those groups of people who have a tendency to be noisy. (Children, for example, often can't help themselves from being noisy, and being parents ourselves, we know!) Pacific Junction has relatively few families with children living at home, and is quieter because of it. Renters and college students, for their own reasons, can also be noisy. Pacific Junction has few renters and college students. But the biggest reason it is quieter in Pacific Junction than in most places in America, is that there are just simply fewer people living here. If you think trees make good neighbors, Pacific Junction may be for you.

As is often the case in a small city, Pacific Junction doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.

Pacific Junction Demographics

The citizens of Pacific Junction have a very low rate of college education: just 6.62% of people over 25 have a bachelor's degree or advanced degree, compared to a national average of 21.84% for all cities.

The per capita income in Pacific Junction in 2010 was $25,549, which is middle income relative to Iowa and the nation. This equates to an annual income of $102,196 for a family of four.

The people who call Pacific Junction home describe themselves as belonging to a variety of racial and ethnic groups. The greatest number of Pacific Junction residents report their race to be White, followed by Black or African-American.
