Sardis Profile

Overview

Sardis is a tiny city located in the state of Georgia. With a population of 960 people and just one neighborhood, Sardis is the 327th largest community in Georgia.

Occupations and Workforce

Unlike some cities where white-collar or blue-collar occupations dominate the local economy, Sardis is neither predominantly one nor the other. Instead, it has a mixed workforce of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Sardis is a city of service providers, sales and office workers, and production and manufacturing workers. There are especially a lot of people living in Sardis who work in office and administrative support (10.51%), healthcare suport services (10.12%), and management occupations (8.56%).

Setting & Lifestyle

It is a fairly quiet city because there are relatively few of those groups of people who have a tendency to be noisy. (Children, for example, often can't help themselves from being noisy, and being parents ourselves, we know!) Sardis has relatively few families with children living at home, and is quieter because of it. Renters and college students, for their own reasons, can also be noisy. Sardis has few renters and college students. But the biggest reason it is quieter in Sardis than in most places in America, is that there are just simply fewer people living here. If you think trees make good neighbors, Sardis may be for you.

Sardis is a small city, and as such doesn't have a public transit system that people use to get to and from their jobs every day.

Sardis Demographics

In terms of college education, the citizens of Sardis rank slightly lower than the national average. 14.14% of adults 25 and older in Sardis have a bachelor's degree or advanced degree, while 21.84% of adults have a 4-year degree or higher in the average American community.

The per capita income in Sardis in 2018 was $17,015, which is lower middle income relative to Georgia, and low income relative to the rest of the US. This equates to an annual income of $68,060 for a family of four. However, Sardis contains both very wealthy and poor people as well. Sardis also has one of the higher rates of people living in poverty in the nation, with 43.28% of its population below the federal poverty line.
