Living in Aventura

Aventura is a medium-sized city located in the state of Florida. With a population of 37,988 people and nine constituent neighborhoods, Aventura is the 80th largest community in Florida.

Aventura home prices are not only among the most expensive in Florida, but Aventura real estate also consistently ranks among the most expensive in America.

Aventura is a decidedly white-collar city, with fully 92.50% of the workforce employed in white-collar jobs, well above the national average. Overall, Aventura is a city of sales and office workers, managers, and professionals. There are especially a lot of people living in Aventura who work in sales jobs (22.27%), management occupations (19.48%), and office and administrative support (9.54%).

Of important note, Aventura is also a city of artists. Aventura has more artists, designers and people working in media than 90% of the communities in America. This concentration of artists helps shape Aventura’s character.

One interesting thing about the economy is that relatively large numbers of people worked from their home: 9.98% of the workforce. While this number may seem small overall, as a fraction of the total workforce this is high compared to the rest of the county. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes.

Another notable thing is that Aventura is an extremely popular destination for tourists and seasonal residents. So much of the population is seasonal such that the city’s population swells significantly during the vacation season, and drops again when the season ends. Because of this, much of the local economy is centered around tourism; some businesses may be operated only during the high season. During the low season, year-round residents will notice that the city is a substantially quieter place to live.

One downside of living in Aventura is that it can take a long time to commute to work. In Aventura, the average commute to work is 32.50 minutes, which is quite a bit higher than the national average.

If knowledge is power, Aventura is a pretty powerful place. 52.45% of the adults in Aventura have earned a 4-year college degree, masters degree, MD, law degree, or even PhD. Compare that to the national average of 21.84% for all cities and towns.

The per capita income in Aventura in 2010 was $52,182, which is wealthy relative to Florida and the nation. This equates to an annual income of $208,728 for a family of four. However, Aventura contains both very wealthy and poor people as well.

Aventura is an extremely ethnically-diverse city. The people who call Aventura home describe themselves as belonging to a variety of racial and ethnic groups. The greatest number of Aventura residents report their race to be White, followed by Black or African-American. Aventura also has a sizeable Hispanic population (people of Hispanic origin can be of any race). People of Hispanic or Latino origin account for 37.53% of the city’s residents. Important ancestries of people in Aventura include Polish, Russian, Italian, German, and Israeli.

Foreign born people are also an important part of Aventura's cultural character, accounting for 48.81% of the city’s population.

The most common language spoken in Aventura is Spanish. Other important languages spoken here include English and French.
