Strasburg Profile

Overview

Strasburg is a very small town located in the state of Colorado. With a population of 2,635 people and just one neighborhood, Strasburg is the 111th largest community in Colorado. Strasburg has seen a significant amount of newer housing growth in recent years. Quite often, new home construction is the result of new residents moving in who are middle class or wealthier, attracted by jobs, a healthy local economy, or other amenities as they leave nearby or far away areas for greener pastures. This seems to be the case in Strasburg, where the median household income is $74,018.00.

Housing costs in Strasburg are among some of the highest in the nation, although real estate prices here don't compare to real estate prices in the most expensive communities in Colorado.

Occupations and Workforce

Unlike some towns, Strasburg isn’t mainly white- or blue-collar. Instead, the most prevalent occupations for people in Strasburg are a mix of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Strasburg is a town of sales and office workers, service providers, and professionals. There are especially a lot of people living in Strasburg who work in office and administrative support (19.44%), computer science and math (8.69%), and teaching (7.51%).

Also of interest is that Strasburg has more people living here who work in computers and math than 95% of the places in the US.

Setting & Lifestyle

Because of many things, Strasburg is a great place for families with children to consider. First of all, many other families with children live here, making Strasburg a place where both parents and children are more likely to develop social ties with other families, as well as find family-oriented services and community. The town’s good public school district and large population of college-educated adults provide an environment conducive to academic values. With regard to real estate, Strasburg has a high rate of owner-occupied single family homes, which tends to reflect stability in the local community. Finally, Strasburg’s overall crime rate is lower than average for the country.

One downside of living in Strasburg, however, is that residents on average have to contend with a long commute, spending on average 34.52 minutes every day commuting to work.

Strasburg is a small town, and as such doesn't have a public transit system that people use to get to and from their jobs every day.

Strasburg Demographics

In terms of college education, Strasburg is nearly on par with the US average for all cities of 21.84%: 20.35% of adults 25 and older in Strasburg have a bachelor's degree or advanced degree.

The per capita income in Strasburg in 2010 was $25,443, which is middle income relative to Colorado, and upper middle income relative to the rest of the US. This equates to an annual income of $101,772 for a family of four.

The people who call Strasburg home describe themselves as belonging to a variety of racial and ethnic groups. The greatest number of Strasburg residents report their race to be White, followed by Asian. Important ancestries of people in Strasburg include Italian, Irish, English, and European.

The most common language spoken in Strasburg is English. Other important languages spoken here include Spanish and Greek.
