Hixton Profile

Overview

Hixton is a tiny village located in the state of Wisconsin. With a population of 426 people and just one neighborhood, Hixton is the 450th largest community in Wisconsin.

Occupations and Workforce

Hixton is a blue-collar town, with 42.19% of people working in blue-collar occupations, while the average in America is just 27.7%. Overall, Hixton is a village of sales and office workers, production and manufacturing workers, and transportation and shipping workers. There are especially a lot of people living in Hixton who work in office and administrative support (17.58%), sales jobs (8.59%), and teaching (7.03%).

Setting & Lifestyle

It is a fairly quiet village because there are relatively few of those groups of people who have a tendency to be noisy. (Children, for example, often can't help themselves from being noisy, and being parents ourselves, we know!) Hixton has relatively few families with children living at home, and is quieter because of it. Renters and college students, for their own reasons, can also be noisy. Hixton has few renters and college students. But the biggest reason it is quieter in Hixton than in most places in America, is that there are just simply fewer people living here. If you think trees make good neighbors, Hixton may be for you.

Being a small village, Hixton does not have a public transit system used by locals to get to and from work.

Hixton Demographics

The citizens of Hixton have a very low rate of college education: just 6.63% of people over 25 have a bachelor's degree or advanced degree, compared to a national average of 21.84% for all cities.

The per capita income in Hixton in 2010 was $22,005, which is lower middle income relative to Wisconsin, and middle income relative to the rest of the US. This equates to an annual income of $88,020 for a family of four. However, Hixton contains both very wealthy and poor people as well.

The people who call Hixton home describe themselves as belonging to a variety of racial and ethnic groups. The greatest number of Hixton residents report their race to be White. Important ancestries of people in Hixton include German, Irish, Polish, and French .

The most common language spoken in Hixton is English. Other important languages spoken here include German and Scandinavian languages.
