Mona Profile

Overview

Mona is a very small city located in the state of Utah. With a population of 1,598 people and just one neighborhood, Mona is the 122nd largest community in Utah. Mona has seen a significant amount of newer housing growth in recent years. Quite often, new home construction is the result of new residents moving in who are middle class or wealthier, attracted by jobs, a healthy local economy, or other amenities as they leave nearby or far away areas for greener pastures. This seems to be the case in Mona, where the median household income is $68,854.00.

Occupations and Workforce

Because occupations involving physical labor dominate the local economy, Mona is generally considered to be a blue-collar town. 35.63% of the Mona workforce is employed in blue-collar occupations, compared to the national average of 27.7%. Overall, Mona is a city of sales and office workers, professionals, and service providers. There are especially a lot of people living in Mona who work in office and administrative support (13.46%), sales jobs (8.05%), and management occupations (8.05%).

Setting & Lifestyle

Because of many things, Mona is a very good place for families to consider. With an enviable combination of good schools, low crime, college-educated neighbors who tend to support education because of their own experiences, and a high rate of home ownership in predominantly single-family properties, Mona really has some of the features that families look for when choosing a good community to raise children. Is Mona perfect? Of course not, and if you like frenetic nightlife, it will be far from your cup of tea. But overall this is a solid community, with many things to recommend it as a family-friendly place to live.

One downside of living in Mona, however, is that residents on average have to contend with a long commute, spending on average 31.21 minutes every day commuting to work.

Being a small city, Mona does not have a public transit system used by locals to get to and from work.

Mona Demographics

In terms of college education, Mona is nearly on par with the US average for all cities of 21.84%: 20.60% of adults 25 and older in Mona have a bachelor's degree or advanced degree.

The per capita income in Mona in 2010 was $20,380, which is lower middle income relative to Utah and the nation. This equates to an annual income of $81,520 for a family of four. However, Mona contains both very wealthy and poor people as well.
