Talty Profile

Overview

Talty is a very small town located in the state of Texas. With a population of 1,927 people and just one neighborhood, Talty is the 696th largest community in Texas. Talty has seen a significant amount of newer housing growth in recent years. Quite often, new home construction is the result of new residents moving in who are middle class or wealthier, attracted by jobs, a healthy local economy, or other amenities as they leave nearby or far away areas for greener pastures. This seems to be the case in Talty, where the median household income is $103,767.00.

Talty real estate is some of the most expensive in Texas, although Talty house values don't compare to the most expensive real estate in the U.S.

Occupations and Workforce

Talty is neither predominantly blue-collar nor white-collar, instead having a mixed workforce of both blue-collar and white-collar jobs. Overall, Talty is a town of managers, sales and office workers, and professionals. There are especially a lot of people living in Talty who work in management occupations (23.35%), office and administrative support (12.50%), and sales jobs (9.67%).

Telecommuters are a relatively large percentage of the workforce: 8.83% of people work from home. While this number may seem small overall, as a fraction of the total workforce it is high relative to the nation. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes.

Setting & Lifestyle

Talty is a good choice for families with children because of several factors. Many other families with children live here, making it a place where both parents and children are more likely to develop social ties with other families. The town’s good public school district and large population of college-educated adults provide an environment conducive to academic success. Many people own their own single-family homes, providing areas for children to play and stability in the community. Finally, Talty’s overall crime rate ranks among the lowest in the country, making it one of the safest places to raise a family.

One downside of living in Talty, however, is that residents on average have to contend with a long commute, spending on average 37.39 minutes every day commuting to work.

Talty Demographics

The education level of Talty citizens is a little higher than the average for US cities and towns: 24.67% of adults in Talty have at least a bachelor's degree.

The per capita income in Talty in 2010 was $37,357, which is wealthy relative to Texas and the nation. This equates to an annual income of $149,428 for a family of four.
