Westport Profile

Overview

Westport is a tiny town located in the state of Oklahoma. With a population of 293 people and just one neighborhood, Westport is the 315th largest community in Oklahoma.

Westport real estate is some of the most expensive in Oklahoma, although Westport house values don't compare to the most expensive real estate in the U.S.

Occupations and Workforce

Westport is neither predominantly blue-collar nor white-collar, instead having a mixed workforce of both blue-collar and white-collar jobs. Overall, Westport is a town of sales and office workers, professionals, and managers. There are especially a lot of people living in Westport who work in sales jobs (13.10%), office and administrative support (12.41%), and healthcare (8.28%).

Setting & Lifestyle

Because of many things, Westport is a very good place for families to consider. With an enviable combination of good schools, low crime, college-educated neighbors who tend to support education because of their own experiences, and a high rate of home ownership in predominantly single-family properties, Westport really has some of the features that families look for when choosing a good community to raise children. Is Westport perfect? Of course not, and if you like frenetic nightlife, it will be far from your cup of tea. But overall this is a solid community, with many things to recommend it as a family-friendly place to live.

It is a fairly quiet town because there are relatively few of those groups of people who have a tendency to be noisy. (Children, for example, often can't help themselves from being noisy, and being parents ourselves, we know!) Westport has relatively few families with children living at home, and is quieter because of it. Renters and college students, for their own reasons, can also be noisy. Westport has few renters and college students. But the biggest reason it is quieter in Westport than in most places in America, is that there are just simply fewer people living here. If you think trees make good neighbors, Westport may be for you.

Being a small town, Westport does not have a public transit system used by locals to get to and from work.

Westport Demographics

The education level of Westport citizens is a little higher than the average for US cities and towns: 23.11% of adults in Westport have at least a bachelor's degree.

The per capita income in Westport in 2010 was $30,668, which is wealthy relative to Oklahoma, and upper middle income relative to the rest of the US. This equates to an annual income of $122,672 for a family of four. However, Westport contains both very wealthy and poor people as well.

The people who call Westport home describe themselves as belonging to a variety of racial and ethnic groups. The greatest number of Westport residents report their race to be White, followed by Black or African-American. Important ancestries of people in Westport include French , English, Irish, and Yugoslavian.
