Veguita is a tiny town located in the state of New Mexico. With a population of 225 people and just one neighborhood, Veguita is the 114th largest community in New Mexico.
Occupations and Workforce
Unlike some towns where white-collar or blue-collar occupations dominate the local economy, Veguita is neither predominantly one nor the other. Instead, it has a mixed workforce of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Veguita is a town of service providers, transportation and shipping workers and sales and office workers. There are especially a lot of people living in Veguita who work in healthcare suport services (69.83%), office and administrative support (6.90%) and management occupations (6.03%).
One interesting thing about the economy is that relatively large numbers of people worked from their home: 76.72% of the workforce. While this number may seem small overall, as a fraction of the total workforce this is high compared to the rest of the county. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes.
Setting & Lifestyle
Veguita’s overall crime rate ranks among the lowest in the nation, making it a very safe place to live.
Residents will find that the town is relatively quiet. This is because it is not over-populated, and it has fewer college students, renters, and young children - all of whom can be noisy at times. So, if you're looking for a relatively peaceful place to live, Veguita is worth considering.
One downside of living in Veguita, however, is that residents on average have to contend with a long commute, spending on average 52.50 minutes every day commuting to work.
Veguita is a small town, and as is often the case with smaller towns, the population isn't large or dense enough to support much in the way of a public transportation system. In fact, there are many rural roads around Veguita, which makes walking or biking to and from work a bit difficult. This makes for a very car-oriented town: 100.00% of residents commute to work by private automobile, and people often drive out of town for work, shopping, and other activities.
Being a small town, Veguita does not have a public transit system used by locals to get to and from work.
