Cove City is a tiny coastal town (i.e. on the ocean, a bay, or inlet) located in the state of North Carolina. With a population of 401 people and just one neighborhood, Cove City is the 507th largest community in North Carolina.
Occupations and Workforce
Because occupations involving physical labor dominate the local economy, Cove City is generally considered to be a blue-collar town. 40.22% of the Cove City workforce is employed in blue-collar occupations, compared to the national average of 27.7%. Overall, Cove City is a town of sales and office workers, service providers and production and manufacturing workers. There are especially a lot of people living in Cove City who work in office and administrative support (21.79%), food service (9.50%) and management occupations (6.70%).
There are many members of the armed forces living in Cove City. You will notice when you visit or live here that some of the people you meet or see around town are employed by the armed services - even if they are not always in uniform.
Setting & Lifestyle
Cove City is also a college town, where lots of students live while attending area colleges. Because of the high percentage of people living in Cove City enrolled in college, Cove City has a number of services, amenities and opportunities geared towards the needs and activities of students.
The town is relatively quiet, having a combination of lower population density and few of those groups of people who have a tendency to be noisy. For example, Cove City has relatively fewer families with younger children, and/or college students. Combined, this makes Cove City a pretty quiet place to live overall. Cove City is also nautical, which means that parts of it are somewhat historic and touch the ocean or tidal bodies of water, such as inlets and bays. Quite often, nautical areas such as these attract visitors and locals who come to enjoy the scenery and various waterfront activities.
Being a small town, Cove City does not have a public transit system used by locals to get to and from work.
