Melvern is a tiny city located in the state of Kansas. With a population of 369 people and just one neighborhood, Melvern is the 263rd largest community in Kansas. Much of the housing stock in Melvern was built prior to World War II, making it one of the older and more historic cities in the country.

Unlike some cities where white-collar or blue-collar occupations dominate the local economy, Melvern is neither predominantly one nor the other. Instead, it has a mixed workforce of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Melvern is a city of sales and office workers, service providers and construction workers and builders. There are especially a lot of people living in Melvern who work in office and administrative support (26.16%), food service (9.30%) and teaching (6.40%).
