McCammon Profile

Overview

McCammon is a tiny city located in the state of Idaho. With a population of 797 people and just one neighborhood, McCammon is the 89th largest community in Idaho.

Occupations and Workforce

Unlike some cities where white-collar or blue-collar occupations dominate the local economy, McCammon is neither predominantly one nor the other. Instead, it has a mixed workforce of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, McCammon is a city of service providers, professionals, and construction workers and builders. There are especially a lot of people living in McCammon who work in food service (13.86%), office and administrative support (8.91%), and healthcare (7.43%).

Setting & Lifestyle

Because of many things, McCammon is a great place for families with children to consider. First of all, many other families with children live here, making McCammon a place where both parents and children are more likely to develop social ties with other families, as well as find family-oriented services and community. The city’s good public school district and large population of college-educated adults provide an environment conducive to academic values. With regard to real estate, McCammon has a high rate of owner-occupied single family homes, which tends to reflect stability in the local community. Finally, McCammon’s overall crime rate ranks among the lowest in the country, making it one of the safest places to raise a family.

In McCammon, however, the average commute to work is quite long. On average, people spend 30.45 minutes each day getting to work, which is significantly higher than the national average. One bright side is that local public transit is widely used, so it may be an option to avoid the headache of driving in the heavy traffic by leaving the car at home and taking transit.

Despite the fact that it is a small city, McCammon has quite a few people who take public transportation – mostly the bus - for their daily commute to work. This helps to fill a real need in the city for affordable transportation.

McCammon Demographics
