Julesburg Profile

Overview

Julesburg is a very small town located in the state of Colorado. With a population of 1,237 people and just one neighborhood, Julesburg is the 145th largest community in Colorado. Julesburg has a large stock of pre-World War II architecture, making it one of the older and more historic towns in the country.

Occupations and Workforce

Unlike some towns where white-collar or blue-collar occupations dominate the local economy, Julesburg is neither predominantly one nor the other. Instead, it has a mixed workforce of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Julesburg is a town of service providers, professionals, and sales and office workers. There are especially a lot of people living in Julesburg who work in management occupations (14.29%), office and administrative support (10.77%), and law enforcement and fire fighting (9.01%).

Of important note, Julesburg is also a town of artists. Julesburg has more artists, designers and people working in media than 90% of the communities in America. This concentration of artists helps shape Julesburg’s character.

Setting & Lifestyle

It is a fairly quiet town because there are relatively few of those groups of people who have a tendency to be noisy. (Children, for example, often can't help themselves from being noisy, and being parents ourselves, we know!) Julesburg has relatively few families with children living at home, and is quieter because of it. Renters and college students, for their own reasons, can also be noisy. Julesburg has few renters and college students. But the biggest reason it is quieter in Julesburg than in most places in America, is that there are just simply fewer people living here. If you think trees make good neighbors, Julesburg may be for you.

Residents of the town have the good fortune of having one of the shortest daily commutes compared to the rest of the country. On average, they spend only 19.04 minutes getting to work every day.

As is often the case in a small town, Julesburg doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.

Julesburg Demographics

The percentage of adults in Julesburg who are college-educated is close to the national average for all communities of 21.84%: 18.91% of the adults in Julesburg have a bachelor's degree or advanced degree.

The per capita income in Julesburg in 2010 was $19,986, which is lower middle income relative to Colorado and the nation. This equates to an annual income of $79,944 for a family of four.

The people who call Julesburg home describe themselves as belonging to a variety of racial and ethnic groups. The greatest number of Julesburg residents report their race to be White, followed by Asian. Julesburg also has a sizeable Hispanic population (people of Hispanic origin can be of any race). People of Hispanic or Latino origin account for 20.49% of the town’s residents. Important ancestries of people in Julesburg include Irish, English, Dutch, and Norwegian.

The most common language spoken in Julesburg is English. Other important languages spoken here include Spanish and Chinese.
