Georgetown Profile

Overview

Georgetown is a very small town located in the state of Colorado. With a population of 1,049 people and just one neighborhood, Georgetown is the 152nd largest community in Colorado.

Housing costs in Georgetown are among some of the highest in the nation, although real estate prices here don't compare to real estate prices in the most expensive communities in Colorado.

Occupations and Workforce

Unlike some towns, Georgetown isn’t mainly white- or blue-collar. Instead, the most prevalent occupations for people in Georgetown are a mix of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Georgetown is a town of sales and office workers, managers, and professionals. There are especially a lot of people living in Georgetown who work in office and administrative support (16.67%), sales jobs (16.49%), and management occupations (14.41%).

Setting & Lifestyle

Another notable thing is that Georgetown is an extremely popular destination for tourists and seasonal residents. So much of the population is seasonal such that the town’s population swells significantly during the vacation season, and drops again when the season ends. Because of this, much of the local economy is centered around tourism; some businesses may be operated only during the high season. During the low season, year-round residents will notice that the city is a substantially quieter place to live.

As is often the case in a small town, Georgetown doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.

Georgetown Demographics

The overall education level of Georgetown citizens is substantially higher than the typical US community, as 33.65% of adults in Georgetown have at least a bachelor's degree, and the average American community has 21.84%.

The per capita income in Georgetown in 2010 was $34,038, which is upper middle income relative to Colorado, and wealthy relative to the rest of the US. This equates to an annual income of $136,152 for a family of four. However, Georgetown contains both very wealthy and poor people as well.

The people who call Georgetown home describe themselves as belonging to a variety of racial and ethnic groups. The greatest number of Georgetown residents report their race to be White, followed by Black or African-American. Important ancestries of people in Georgetown include German, English, Swedish, and Norwegian.

The most common language spoken in Georgetown is English. Other important languages spoken here include Spanish and Italian.
