Relocating for a new job can be stressful, expensive and time consuming. NeighborhoodScout’s HomeBenefits service can help reduce the stress associated with employee relocations.
HomeBenefits is a relocation benefit available to institutions and companies through a partnership with Location, Inc., NeighborhoodScout.com’s parent company. HomeBenefits provides employees with a substantial cash benefit any time they buy or sell a home or other real estate through the NeighborhoodScout HomeBenefits’ network.
Not only has NeighborhoodScout developed a proprietary method for determining neighborhood qualities, we have also created a similar screening method for local real estate professionals. Based on thousands of client surveys, we are able to know which real estate agents in any local area have proven sales performance and high customer service records.
I am a relocating employee. How does the HomeBenefits® service work?
- You’ll schedule an initial conversation with a NeighborhoodScout counselor and discuss with them your personal needs, price, and desired location.
- The NeighborhoodScout counselor will match you with a top pre-screened real estate agent based on your personal situation. If your are selling your home, we can also match you with two top-selling agents from different offices who will compete for your business.
- When an agent helps you buy or sell a home, you will receive a portion of the commission from the seller’s broker, and the agent will pay us a referral fee from that commission. Because we want our interests to be aligned with yours, we take 50% of our referral fee and put it back in your pocket as a cash award.
- Fees are based on the price of the home, so the higher the purchase or sale price, the more we are able to give back.
- Because there are no employer dollars or payroll deductions involved, there are no taxes to pay.
When can I use HomeBenefits®?
- HomeBenefits can be used when buying or selling a primary home, a vacation home, or even undeveloped land. Whatever the case may be, NeighborhoodScout will connect you with a real estate professional in your area to handle the transaction.
- HomeBenefits can be used as often as you like, even for second homes or investment property. When the purchase and/or sale closes, you receive a cash benefit of hundreds or even thousands of dollars through Location, Inc. (parent company of NeighborhoodScout).

- CONNECT. Start the process by emailing a NeighborhoodScout counselor. Please include: a) Your name, b) Your employer, d) Your contact info, including phone number(s), and d) A day / time that you are available for a call from one of our relocation counselors.Email us at: counselors@neighborhoodscout.comAfter your call, a counselor will match you to a qualified agent from our HomeBenfits network. That agent will connect with you within 48 hours.
- BUY or SELL. Once you transact on a property with the real estate agent in our network, Location, Inc./NeighborhoodScout receives a portion of the agent’s commission as a referral fee.
- GET CASH BACK. We turn 50% of that referral fee over to you as a cash-back reward, just for using an agent in our network!Here’s an example of the type of cash-back benefit you could receive:
