Chenequa is a tiny village located in the state of Wisconsin. With a population of 600 people and just one neighborhood, Chenequa is the 418th largest community in Wisconsin. Chenequa has a large stock of pre-World War II architecture, making it one of the older and more historic villages in the country.
Real Estate Prices
Chenequa home prices are not only among the most expensive in Wisconsin, but Chenequa real estate also consistently ranks among the most expensive in America.
Occupations and Workforce
Chenequa is a decidedly white-collar village, with fully 94.80% of the workforce employed in white-collar jobs, well above the national average. Overall, Chenequa is a village of managers, professionals and sales and office workers. There are especially a lot of people living in Chenequa who work in management occupations (30.40%), healthcare (14.80%) and sales jobs (14.00%).
Of important note, Chenequa is also a village of artists. Chenequa has more artists, designers and people working in media than 90% of the communities in America. This concentration of artists helps shape Chenequa’s character.
A relatively large number of people in Chenequa telecommute to their jobs. Overall, about 18.37% of the workforce works from home. While this may seem like a small number, as a fraction of the total workforce it ranks among the highest in the country. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes.
Setting & Lifestyle
In addition, Chenequa is home to many people who could be described as "urban sophisticates". Urban sophisticates are educated, wealthy, executives and professionals, who have urbane tastes in books, food, and travel, whether they actually live in a big city, or choose to reside in a small town. In big or medium-sized cities, urban sophisticates tend to frequent art institutions such as opera, symphonies, ballet, live theatre, and museums.
Because of many things, Chenequa is a very good place for families to consider. With an enviable combination of good schools, low crime, college-educated neighbors who tend to support education because of their own experiences, and a high rate of home ownership in predominantly single-family properties, Chenequa really has some of the features that families look for when choosing a good community to raise children. Is Chenequa perfect? Of course not, and if you like frenetic nightlife, it will be far from your cup of tea. But overall this is a solid community, with many things to recommend it as a family-friendly place to live.
It is a fairly quiet village because there are relatively few of those groups of people who have a tendency to be noisy. (Children, for example, often can't help themselves from being noisy, and being parents ourselves, we know!) Chenequa has relatively few families with children living at home, and is quieter because of it. Renters and college students, for their own reasons, can also be noisy. Chenequa has few renters and college students. But the biggest reason it is quieter in Chenequa than in most places in America, is that there are just simply fewer people living here. If you think trees make good neighbors, Chenequa may be for you.
Being a small village, Chenequa does not have a public transit system used by locals to get to and from work.
