Vega is a tiny city located in the state of Texas. With a population of 900 people and just one neighborhood, Vega is the 846th largest community in Texas.
Occupations and Workforce
Unlike some cities where white-collar or blue-collar occupations dominate the local economy, Vega is neither predominantly one nor the other. Instead, it has a mixed workforce of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Vega is a city of service providers, professionals and sales and office workers. There are especially a lot of people living in Vega who work in management occupations (15.49%), office and administrative support (14.96%) and personal care services (9.97%).
One interesting thing about the economy is that relatively large numbers of people worked from their home: 7.65% of the workforce. While this number may seem small overall, as a fraction of the total workforce this is high compared to the rest of the county. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes.
Setting & Lifestyle
Because of many things, Vega is a very good place for families to consider. With an enviable combination of good schools, low crime, college-educated neighbors who tend to support education because of their own experiences, and a high rate of home ownership in predominantly single-family properties, Vega really has some of the features that families look for when choosing a good community to raise children. Is Vega perfect? Of course not, and if you like frenetic nightlife, it will be far from your cup of tea. But overall this is a solid community, with many things to recommend it as a family-friendly place to live.
Compared to the rest of the country, citizens of Vega spend much less time in their cars: on average, their commute to work is only 17.95 minutes. This also means that noise and pollution levels in the city are less than they would otherwise be.
Vega is a small city, and as such doesn't have a public transit system that people use to get to and from their jobs every day.
