Wymore Profile

Overview

Wymore is a very small city located in the state of Nebraska. With a population of 1,414 people and just one neighborhood, Wymore is the 80th largest community in Nebraska. Wymore has a large stock of pre-World War II architecture, making it one of the older and more historic cities in the country.

Occupations and Workforce

Wymore is a blue-collar town, with 36.78% of people working in blue-collar occupations, while the average in America is just 27.7%. Overall, Wymore is a city of sales and office workers, service providers, and professionals. There are especially a lot of people living in Wymore who work in office and administrative support (14.24%), management occupations (6.27%), and healthcare (6.10%).

Also of interest is that Wymore has more people living here who work in computers and math than 95% of the places in the US.

Setting & Lifestyle

Overall, Wymore’s crime rate is one of the lowest in the nation, which makes a great place to live if safety is an important concern.

It is a fairly quiet city because there are relatively few of those groups of people who have a tendency to be noisy. (Children, for example, often can't help themselves from being noisy, and being parents ourselves, we know!) Wymore has relatively few families with children living at home, and is quieter because of it. Renters and college students, for their own reasons, can also be noisy. Wymore has few renters and college students. But the biggest reason it is quieter in Wymore than in most places in America, is that there are just simply fewer people living here. If you think trees make good neighbors, Wymore may be for you.

As is often the case in a small city, Wymore doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.

Wymore Demographics

In Wymore, just 11.08% of people have at least a bachelor's degree, which is quite a bit lower than the national average for cities and towns of 21.84%.

The per capita income in Wymore in 2010 was $19,891, which is low income relative to Nebraska, and lower middle income relative to the rest of the US. This equates to an annual income of $79,564 for a family of four.

The people who call Wymore home describe themselves as belonging to a variety of racial and ethnic groups. The greatest number of Wymore residents report their race to be White, followed by Black or African-American. Important ancestries of people in Wymore include Irish, English, Czech, and Welsh.

The most common language spoken in Wymore is English. Other important languages spoken here include German and Slavic languages.
