Brumley Profile

Overview

Brumley is a tiny town located in the state of Missouri. With a population of 93 people and just one neighborhood, Brumley is the 500th largest community in Missouri.

Occupations and Workforce

Unlike some towns where white-collar or blue-collar occupations dominate the local economy, Brumley is neither predominantly one nor the other. Instead, it has a mixed workforce of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Brumley is a town of sales and office workers, service providers, and professionals. There are especially a lot of people living in Brumley who work in sales jobs (36.00%), maintenance occupations (24.00%), and art, media, and design (16.00%).

Of important note, Brumley is also a town of artists. Brumley has more artists, designers and people working in media than 90% of the communities in America. This concentration of artists helps shape Brumley’s character.

One interesting thing about the economy is that relatively large numbers of people worked from their home: 16.00% of the workforce. While this number may seem small overall, as a fraction of the total workforce this is high compared to the rest of the county. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes.

Setting & Lifestyle

Brumley is a good choice for families with children because of several factors. Many other families with children live here, making it a place where both parents and children are more likely to develop social ties with other families. The town’s good public school district and large population of college-educated adults provide an environment conducive to academic success. Many people own their own single-family homes, providing areas for children to play and stability in the community. Finally, Brumley’s overall crime rate ranks among the lowest in the country, making it one of the safest places to raise a family.

The town is relatively quiet, having a combination of lower population density and few of those groups of people who have a tendency to be noisy. For example, Brumley has relatively fewer families with younger children, and/or college students. Combined, this makes Brumley a pretty quiet place to live overall. If you like quiet, you will probably enjoy it here.

Brumley is a small town, and as is often the case with smaller towns, the population isn't large or dense enough to support much in the way of a public transportation system. In fact, there are many rural roads around Brumley, which makes walking or biking to and from work a bit difficult. This makes for a very car-oriented town: 1.00% of residents commute to work by private automobile, and people often drive out of town for work, shopping, and other activities.

As is often the case in a small town, Brumley doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.

Brumley Demographics

The citizens of Brumley are slightly less educated than the national average of 21.84% for the average city or town: 16.00% of adults in Brumley have a bachelor's degree or advanced degree

The per capita income in Brumley in 2010 was $20,992, which is upper middle income relative to Missouri, and lower middle income relative to the rest of the US. This equates to an annual income of $83,968 for a family of four.

Brumley is a somewhat ethnically-diverse town. The people who call Brumley home describe themselves as belonging to a variety of racial and ethnic groups. The greatest number of Brumley residents report their race to be White. Brumley also has a sizeable Hispanic population (people of Hispanic origin can be of any race). People of Hispanic or Latino origin account for 15.38% of the town’s residents. Important ancestries of people in Brumley include Swiss, English, French , and Danish.

The most common language spoken in Brumley is English. Other important languages spoken here include Spanish and African languages.
