Merrifield is a tiny town located in the state of Minnesota. With a population of 143 people and just one neighborhood, Merrifield is the 483rd largest community in Minnesota.
Occupations and Workforce
Merrifield is neither predominantly blue-collar nor white-collar, instead having a mixed workforce of both blue-collar and white-collar jobs. Overall, Merrifield is a town of sales and office workers, managers and construction workers and builders. There are especially a lot of people living in Merrifield who work in sales jobs (29.82%), management occupations (28.07%) and office and administrative support (8.77%).
One interesting thing about the economy is that relatively large numbers of people worked from their home: 14.04% of the workforce. While this number may seem small overall, as a fraction of the total workforce this is high compared to the rest of the county. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes.
Setting & Lifestyle
Because of many things, Merrifield is a very good place for families to consider. With an enviable combination of good schools, low crime, college-educated neighbors who tend to support education because of their own experiences, and a high rate of home ownership in predominantly single-family properties, Merrifield really has some of the features that families look for when choosing a good community to raise children. Is Merrifield perfect? Of course not, and if you like frenetic nightlife, it will be far from your cup of tea. But overall this is a solid community, with many things to recommend it as a family-friendly place to live.
The town is relatively quiet, having a combination of lower population density and few of those groups of people who have a tendency to be noisy. For example, Merrifield has relatively fewer families with younger children, and/or college students. Combined, this makes Merrifield a pretty quiet place to live overall. If you like quiet, you will probably enjoy it here.
Being a small town, Merrifield does not have a public transit system used by locals to get to and from work.
