Stanwood Profile

Overview

Stanwood is a tiny village located in the state of Michigan. With a population of 212 people and just one neighborhood, Stanwood is the 612th largest community in Michigan. Stanwood has an unusually large stock of pre-World War II architecture, making it one of the older and more historic villages.

Occupations and Workforce

Unlike some villages where white-collar or blue-collar occupations dominate the local economy, Stanwood is neither predominantly one nor the other. Instead, it has a mixed workforce of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Stanwood is a village of sales and office workers, service providers, and transportation and shipping workers. There are especially a lot of people living in Stanwood who work in office and administrative support (30.00%), sales jobs (12.86%), and maintenance occupations (8.57%).

Setting & Lifestyle

The village is relatively quiet, having a combination of lower population density and few of those groups of people who have a tendency to be noisy. For example, Stanwood has relatively fewer families with younger children, and/or college students. Combined, this makes Stanwood a pretty quiet place to live overall. If you like quiet, you will probably enjoy it here.

As is often the case in a small village, Stanwood doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.

Stanwood Demographics

The citizens of Stanwood have a very low rate of college education: just 9.92% of people over 25 have a bachelor's degree or advanced degree, compared to a national average of 21.84% for all cities.

The per capita income in Stanwood in 2010 was $20,670, which is middle income relative to Michigan, and lower middle income relative to the rest of the US. This equates to an annual income of $82,680 for a family of four. However, Stanwood contains both very wealthy and poor people as well.

The people who call Stanwood home describe themselves as belonging to a variety of racial and ethnic groups. The greatest number of Stanwood residents report their race to be White. Important ancestries of people in Stanwood include English, French , Irish, and Dutch.

The most common language spoken in Stanwood is English. Other important languages spoken here include African languages and Hebrew.
