Hugo Profile

Overview

Hugo is a tiny town located in the state of Colorado. With a population of 736 people and just one neighborhood, Hugo is the 172nd largest community in Colorado. Much of the housing stock in Hugo was built prior to World War II, making it one of the older and more historic towns in the country.

Occupations and Workforce

Hugo is neither predominantly blue-collar nor white-collar, instead having a mixed workforce of both blue-collar and white-collar jobs. Overall, Hugo is a town of service providers, sales and office workers, and transportation and shipping workers. There are especially a lot of people living in Hugo who work in maintenance occupations (21.66%), office and administrative support (11.98%), and healthcare suport services (10.60%).

Setting & Lifestyle

Residents will find that the town is relatively quiet. This is because it is not over-populated, and it has fewer college students, renters, and young children - all of whom can be noisy at times. So, if you're looking for a relatively peaceful place to live, Hugo is worth considering.

One of the benefits of Hugo is that there is very little traffic. The average commute to work is 18.32 minutes, which is substantially less than the national average. Not only does this mean that the drive to work is less aggravating, but noise and pollution levels are lower as a result.

Hugo is a small town, and as such doesn't have a public transit system that people use to get to and from their jobs every day.

Hugo Demographics

The population of Hugo has a very low overall level of education: only 8.25% of people over 25 hold a 4-year college degree or higher.

The per capita income in Hugo in 2010 was $17,524, which is low income relative to Colorado and the nation. This equates to an annual income of $70,096 for a family of four.

The people who call Hugo home describe themselves as belonging to a variety of racial and ethnic groups. The greatest number of Hugo residents report their race to be White, followed by Black or African-American. Important ancestries of people in Hugo include Irish, English, French , and Scots-Irish.

The most common language spoken in Hugo is English. Other important languages spoken here include Spanish and African languages.
