Junction City Profile

Overview

Junction City is a tiny town located in the state of California. With a population of 650 people and just one neighborhood, Junction City is the 730th largest community in California.

Housing costs in Junction City are among some of the highest in the nation, although real estate prices here don't compare to real estate prices in the most expensive communities in California.

Occupations and Workforce

Junction City is neither predominantly blue-collar nor white-collar, instead having a mixed workforce of both blue-collar and white-collar jobs. Overall, Junction City is a town of service providers, sales and office workers, and construction workers and builders. There are especially a lot of people living in Junction City who work in office and administrative support (17.81%), maintenance occupations (15.98%), and sales jobs (10.05%).

Of important note, Junction City is also a town of artists. Junction City has more artists, designers and people working in media than 90% of the communities in America. This concentration of artists helps shape Junction City’s character.

One interesting thing about the economy is that relatively large numbers of people worked from their home: 17.35% of the workforce. While this number may seem small overall, as a fraction of the total workforce this is high compared to the rest of the county. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes.

Setting & Lifestyle

Residents will find that the town is relatively quiet. This is because it is not over-populated, and it has fewer college students, renters, and young children - all of whom can be noisy at times. So, if you're looking for a relatively peaceful place to live, Junction City is worth considering.

As is often the case in a small town, Junction City doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.

Junction City Demographics

The education level of Junction City citizens is a little higher than the average for US cities and towns: 22.54% of adults in Junction City have at least a bachelor's degree.

The per capita income in Junction City in 2010 was $21,224, which is lower middle income relative to California and the nation. This equates to an annual income of $84,896 for a family of four. However, Junction City contains both very wealthy and poor people as well.

The people who call Junction City home describe themselves as belonging to a variety of racial and ethnic groups. The greatest number of Junction City residents report their race to be White, followed by Asian. Important ancestries of people in Junction City include English, French , German, and Italian.

The most common language spoken in Junction City is English. Other important languages spoken here include Spanish and Tagalog.
