Heber is a very small town located in the state of California. With a population of 4,167 people and just one neighborhood, Heber is the 530th largest community in California. Much of the housing stock in Heber was built relatively recently. The construction of new real estate can often be taken as an indication that the local Heber economy is robust, and that jobs or other amenities are attracting an influx of new residents.
Occupations and Workforce
Because occupations involving physical labor dominate the local economy, Heber is generally considered to be a blue-collar town. 44.87% of the Heber workforce is employed in blue-collar occupations, compared to the national average of 27.7%. Overall, Heber is a town of service providers, sales and office workers and construction workers and builders. There are especially a lot of people living in Heber who work in office and administrative support (10.94%), personal care services (9.23%) and sales jobs (8.12%).
Telecommuters are a relatively large percentage of the workforce: 10.33% of people work from home. While this number may seem small overall, as a fraction of the total workforce it is high relative to the nation. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes.
Setting & Lifestyle
As is often the case in a small town, Heber doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.
